“My love life is nil as of the moment and my sex life is unpredictable! As of now, I cannot think of settling down because I’m very much engrossed with work.”

12346632_10205181928930385_181699010_nJust a day after his return from the U.S.where he was awarded as 2015 Most Promising New Personality by the Gawad Amerika Awards, held at the Celebrity Center, Hollywood, in Los Angeles, California, last Saturday, William Thio immediately faced the press in a small gathering yesterday afternoon.

“This is my way of thanking everyone who has helped me all through the years in my career,” said the 41-year old broadcaster. “I’m glad that somehow I am being recognized by my effort as a broadcaster. I’m so excited because I know I have been working hard the past years and I haven’t much time to see you and talk to you.

Launched as member of Star Circle Batch 5 more than a decade ago (his batch include John Lloyd Cruz, Baron Geisler, etc.), he became a regular of ABS-CBN’s youth-oriented show, Gimmick. (with G Toengi, Marvin Agustin, Diether Ocampo, etc.). Although he did several TV commercials and even appeared in a stage play (Penis Talk), William’s showbiz career didn’t last long.

“Unfortunately I don’t sing, nor do I dance. Kaya talagang limited lang ang talent ko as an artista. And I’m aware of that. I know my limitations,” he said. Realizing of his shortcomings as a young actor, he left the country to continue his studies in the States. Soon enough, he finished Mass Communication at the Merlo College in California. After that, he decided to come home.

True enough, William got his first job as anchor-host in channel 4. Then he was offered a news field reporter stint in channel 9. 12346869_10205181913169991_307105681_nBecause of this exposure, he was honed and trained to be a broadcast journalist. “Definitely, it gave a chance to rediscover myself and do things what I really love doing most. And that is doing news. That’s why I’m so happy for accepting that award,” he said.

And on December 13, he will receive another award, the Wahod Excellence Award-Institutional Male Broadcaster for his TV show Spotlight, aired in UNTV 37 (every Thursday, 4:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.). This is in connection with the World Association Humanitarian of Doctors under the United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs. It will be held at the New World Manila Bay Hotel Ballroom, Roxas Boulevard, Manila.

Now that he is a stable career man, will he find time to settle down soon?

“I really don’t know,” he swiftly replied. “At this point, I’m not looking into a lasting relationship yet. Parang I have forgotten to fall in love again. I don’t know, but I cannot sustain the flame in any given relationship.” Although he doesn’t want to blame anyone, he revealed that he grew up with nine stepfathers.

Today, William is the news achor of GNN’s News Force, over Sky Cable channel 213, from Monday to Saturday, 5:00 p.m. 6:00 p.m. and from 10:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. He also host the GNN’s talk show Opinion Leaders every Saturday (9:00 p.m to 11:00 p.m.). Aside from news casting, he has a construction business to attend everyday. He is also the chairman emeritus of Red Cross, Philippines. Miss Rosa Rosal is his grand aunt. Who knows, after making more that a hundred TVCs, mostly in Southeast Asia, you might see him act again. Once again, kudos!
