As a politician, she believes that we have good laws in protecting women, and if she will be given a chance to be elected in the senate, she wants more laws for women’s protection, especially the abused.
From showbiz to political limelight, and now to national campaign, the former sexy star, Ms. Alma Moreno Lacsamana decided to run for a higher position in next year’s elections She believed that she is more needed by her countrymen, not only in the city of Parañaque, but to the whole country, as she aimed for a senate seat in 2016.
Alma was asked what pushed her to run for a senatorial slate?
Having served her consituents for three terms as a councilor, Alma believed that she can duplicate her success in Parañaque as she pushed for her advocacy of protecting women against violence.
Alma was also asked why she chose an advocacy to protect women. “Kasi babae ako e, alam ko yung pangangailangan ng isang babae, lalo pag naapi, yung mga babae na inapi pero hindi kayang lumaban,” she said.
She also related her advocacy with her experiences in the past.
And what is her opinion that there are more showbiz personalities seeking senatorial posts.
Alma also defended her colleagues in showbiz on people’s negative impressions about celebrities aiming for political career. “Masakit man pero ganun ata talaga e. Pero kung masaya sila, sige lang tignan nalang nila nagagawa namin kasi hindi porke artista minamaliit na nila di ba,” she said.
On the lighter side, Alma was also asked if she will allow her daughter, Wynwyn Marquez to joing again a national beauty pageant, particularly Binibining Pilipinas. “Kung ano yung decision niya we will support her, pero sabi ko relax muna. Pero siyempre at the end of the day, kung ano ang decision nya, we are always behind her,” she said.
As a neophyte senatorial candidate, the lady councilor is so thankful to Vice President Jojo Binay who noticed her achievements and convinced her to run for senator and promised to help her in continuing her projects.
