Arnel Pineda to conquer the world via the art of live streaming
By Ricky Calderon
“The magic of streaming technology allows us to be together at the same time, and everyone gets a front seat to this show wherever they are in.”
Tonight, all roads lead to the Newport Performing Arts Theater in Resorts World Manila to witness the live streaming concert of the Journey’s front man Arnel Pineda called Voyage to Rockville. It will also feature heavy metal drummer Morgan Rose of the band Sevendust and the pop-rock group Namesake.
The concert title is a reference to Rockville, the now defunct music bar along Timog Avenue in Quezon City that the rock singer owned and operated some years ago. Even during that time, Arnel had been dreaming that he and other unknown performers in the bar could stage a concert that would be broadcast live all over the world.
With the magic of streaming technology, Arnel gets to fulfill his dream as Voyage to Rockville can be enjoyed via live streaming and will be accessible to everyone in any part of the world.
According to Rene Walter of Sanre Entertainment (which manages Arnel’s career), the concept of Rockville was already brought to him by the rock star very early in their partnership.
“Rockville is a special place where everyone can take a voyage with Arnel and other performers and just listen and enjoy their live performances from wherever they are,” said Walter.
Arnel added that he had long dreamed to have this concept come into fruition since he wanted to showcase the unknown Filipino rock artists and have the chance to show what they’ve got. He said if this concert clicks, it will open new doors to the Pinoy rock artists hoping to get their share of the limelight.
For this purpose, Sanre Entertainment World, in association with Imagen Records, launched a new division, Sanre Streaming. The division aims to stream about 30 concerts per year held in various exotic locations all over the world.
Since he will be able to showcase to a bigger audience, Arnel revealed that he will singing his original songs and his repertoire won’t be limited to the songs of Journey and the classic rock tunes that he usually does in a concert.
“To be honest, I am not quite sure how the audience will respond but there is no better time and venue to take this opportunity,” he expressed.
Arnel hoped to work with the likes of Ely Buendia, Parokya ni Edgar, Rivermaya and Bamboo in the next leg of Voyage to Rockville concerts.
Since election 2016 is fast approaching, Arnel was asked who is the presidentiable he is going to support. Although he declined to name his choice, all he said was he cannot support a candidate because he has a foundation and he doesn’t want to compromise it. But he said he wanted someone who can effect change, especially for the sake of the people.
Voyage to Rockville starts at around 8 p.m. According to Walter, the live telecast can be purchased at www.sanstreaming.com. A delayed telecast is also available which is valid for any seven-day period from the time of purchase.
There is also an option for VIP access which includes an autographed CD as well as eight weeks access to delayed telecasts. The broadcast period will begin on April 9 and will run until June 11.
