After the success of “Rak of Aegis” and “Bituing Walang Ningning”, a new musical will soon hit the local stage in September entitled “Chuva Choo Choo, The Mr. Kupido Musical”. The music is inspired by the songs written by the hit maker himself, Mr. Vehnee Saturno. Produced by Stages Production Specialist, Inc., it will be directed by seven-time Palanca awardee George De Jesus III.
Top billing this original Filipino musical is former Kim of “Miss Saigon,” Joanna Ampil and “The Voice” finalist, Morisette Amon. The two will play sisters Dina and Darla, whose story started when they witnessed an altercation they wish they never saw. From a hilarious hiding and impersonations, the duo landed as contestants in a reality singing contest. It’s a choice of stardom over secrets and quest for true love, as well.
Among the songs to be used in the said musical are “Isang Lahi” (originally sung by Regine Velasquez), “Bakit Pa” (Jessa Zaragoza, “Be My Lady” (Martin Nievera), “Sana Kahit Minsan” (Ariel Rivera), “Forever Is Not Enough” (Sarah Geronimo), “Mula Sa Puso” (Jude Michael), and “Chuva Choo Choo” (Jolina Magdangal).
Saturno’s career as a song writer span for almost 35 years, and he has written more than 800 songs and around 150 of that are certified hits. He has written songs to all the big names in the music industry. During the lauch held a few days ago at the My Cinema in Greenbelt 3, Saturno admitted that he is so happy for this project. “I have been praying for this for the longest time, and now it’s happening,” he said.
“Chuva Choo Choo, The Mr. Kupido Musical” will open on September 25 and 26, 2015, as the opening salvo of the newly built Power Mac Center Spotlight in Circuit Makati. The short run will continue January of 2016.
