Farewell, Caloy “The Big Difference” Loyzaga!
CARLOS “The Big Difference” LOYZAGA
August 26, 1930 – January 27, 2016
The man who put the Philippines into the global map in Basketball. The man who led the Philippine National Basketball team into a Third Place Finish during the 1954 version of FIBA World Championship; the best finish of any Asian country in the tournament to date. The man who helped Philippines to its Asian Basketball supremacy in the 1950s (1951, 1954, 1958 and 1960) through Asian Games. The Olympic dream of current Philippine Basketball has long been accomplished by the country through him having finished 9th Place in 1952 and 7th Place in 1956. The man they call “THE BIG DIFFERENCE” is now gone. Rest in Peace, Caloy!
