A model and an IT Consultant were this year’s big winners during the Century Tuna Superbods Nation pageant night, held last night (April 10), at The Palace Pool  Club in Bonifacio Clobal City, Taguig City. Olivia Medina and Tom Esconde bested 24 other hopefuls and were procliamed to be the most fit and sexiest bodies in the said competition.

A half Filipina-half Canadian, Medina moved here in Manila four years ago to pursue a career in modelling, while Esconde has a Swedish mom and a Filipino dad, and works as an Information Technology consultant in a BPO firm in Mckinley Hill. Both Medina and Esconde were first timers in joining pageants such as this, especially the latter who never had any eperience in modeling.

When asked why he won this year’s title, Tom answered, “My dedication to this lifestyle, I was telling everybody that it doesn’t matter if I win or not, because this is just the beginning of my transformation. And I will never leave Century Tuna Superbods lifestyle.”

Medina, like Esconde, prepared a lot for this search. In her case, she focused on cardio exercises She claimed that training and fitness is her life. She admitted that she had a girl crush on Century Tuna endorser Anne Curtis. “She is the ultimate woman, she carries herself well, always happy, positive, I think that kind of woman I look up tom” she said.

If given a chance, Medina and Esconde are willing to try showbiz. Olivia said she is close to that goal since she is trying her best to speak in Filipino. Esconde, on the other hand, welcomed the idea and willing to try acting if there’s an offer.  Medina also got the  Stylist Superbod of the Night, and Esconde was chosen as Most Photogenic.

This year’s grand winners received  P500,000 cash each,  while  the first runners-up (Clint Bondad and Ambra Gutierez) took home P250,000 cash each. The husband of actress Christine Reyes, Ali Khatibi and Chet Abella, were declared second runners-up with P100,000 cash each.

Special awards for Beach Bodies are Shawn Stansbury and Ambra Gutierrez. People’s Choice winner are  Kaara Tan and Pio Luz, Fittest Individual winners were Clint Bondad and Ambra Gutierrez, while Belo Beautiful Skin went to Bondad and Chet Abella, as well. Stylish Superbod of the Night for male was Bondad, Most Photogenic female was Natalia LaLonde.  Runway Superbods of the Night were Ameen Sardouk and Abella,and Superbod Challenge winners were Cassie Umali and Andrew Aurellano.

Former Miss Universe and  once a CT Endorser Gloria Diaz headed the panel of judges, which include basketball star Jaron Teng and TV5 President Noel Lorenzana and Cristalle Belo-Henares of Belo Medical Group.

Since its celebrating 10th year, this year event was highlighted with the reunion of former Century Tuna endorsers as they sashayed the runway starting with Jessy Mendiola, Paolo Avelino, KC Concepcion, Aljur Abrenica, Xian Lim, Gerald Anderson, Phil Younghusband, Elmo Magalona, Isabelle Daza and Solenn Heussaf. Of course they were joined by CT’s  latest endorsers  Anne Curtis and Derek Ramsay.

Other past winners of Century Tuna who graced the event were Jon Avila, John Spainhour, Patty Ortega, Monika Sta.Maria and a lot more.
