We must achieve what we want in life.”
By this time, balladeer Gerald Santos will be in Bicol province for the next leg of the nation-wide tour of the Pedro Calungsod, The Musical. And after that, he will be back for the promotion of his latest album, Gerald Santos, Kahit Anong Mangyari, now out in the market. He will be also releasing the music video of the fourth single from the album, “Wagas.”
The Year of the Fire Monkey promised a heavy and hectic schedule for this young singer, who will mark his 10th anniversary in the entertainment industry. And to culminate the celebration, a big concert is now on the planning stage, as he was inspired by his concert last year held at the Philippine International Convention Center (PICC), which won the Aliw Awards as Best Major Concert of the Year.
“May darating akong malaking concert uli at gagawin ito sa KIA Theater ngayong August 20 entitled GERALD SANTOS: ATTENTION! Marami akong pasabog at surprises in terms of production numbers na ipapakita,” he revealed.
Actually, he will be celebrating his anniversary on May 10 of this year, but his concert will be three months later due to the long preparation to be entailed on the production side. He will have guests like Morisette, Jonalyn Viray and Ms. Regine Velasquez.
Come March 6, he is part of the show M&M #pumapagibig, a post Valentine concert of Marion Aunor and Michael Pangilinan, and with a lot of surprise celebrity guests at Zirkoh-Morato. “
“Abangan na lang ang aking gagawin. Si Michael, brother ko ‘yan, good luck to him. Congrats to him at good luck na rin sa career niya dahil ang dami na rin siyang nagawa in the industry. Kay Marion, hindi ko pa siya nakakatrabaho pero I can see na grabe din ‘yung artistry niya. So, keep it up and keep on doing more music. I would like to do a collaraboration with her.
Gerald also claimed that he is enjoying his another love, and this is acting. It’s a new avenue for him, but he stressed that he is tremendiously enjoying it.
“I see myself doing more movies in the future, but singing is still my first love at kaya naman po pagsabayin. May nagawa na rin akong indie movies entitled Memory Channel with Epi Quizon, Bodjie Pascual, Michelle Vito and ‘yung isa produced by National Historical Commission, ang Emilio Jacinto, Utak Ng Katipunan, a docu film intended for the students.
In a separate interview with his manager Cocoy Romilo, they are on a long planning of doing a big musical play for next year to be staged at Resorts World and this is about King David.
Gerald will do the young David and hopefully, makikipag-negotiate kami na si Piolo Pascual ang gaganap na matured David. Christopher de Leon will be joining them too and a lot more,” he related.
As a stage actor, this 24-year old performer has done three musical plays, one was Sino Ka Ba Jose Rizal under Gantimpala Foundation, and the remaining two are all about Pedro Calungsod, but under two different productions.
As part of the celebration, it is also in the plan of doing the much delayed filming of Celso Ad. Castillo’s Ang Lalaking Nangarap Maging Nora Aunor. “It will be a honor for me. Sobrang excited ako na magawa ‘yan, sobrang challenging ‘yung role so kakaiba siya. Sobrang intimated ako dahil sobra siyang mabait. Napaka-genuine at generous niyang aktres. Siyempre, iba yung level of acting niya,” he proudly said of the Superstar.
And if there’s one thing he can claim as forever, Gerald said that it is his passion for the arts. “Ito talaga ‘yung passion ko eh, so I think, I will be here as long as I live. I will sing as long as i can, I will act, I will do movies as long as i can. And be like Gary V, Martin Neviera. I want to end up like them or more than what they have achieved combined, and with the legacy of Ate Guy kasi kaya gusto ko na rin umarte,” he shared.
As a person, Gerald felt bad on what People’s Champ Manny Pacquiao said on the same sex marriage comparing the homosexuals to the worsest animals.
Gerald recalled that in 2010, it was his first time to vote, and that was a national election and admitted that he voted for President Pinoy, but right now, he is still undecided who to vote in the coming national election. He said that he might change his mind depending on the flow of the political event.
Right now, he is still in the lookout for his next president, considering the fact that there are still a lot of hungry Filipinos victimized by the recent calamity.
Matalino din siya, he’s a lawyer, and kaya may kamay na bakal talaga.”
If he will be asked to perform in any political campaign, Gerald is willing to accept it because it is part of his work to entertain the people.
“I can sing for any candidate who needs my services, babayaran ako dahil trabaho lang naman ito. Siguro, as long as mag-entertain ako, okey lang naman, performer lang naman, di naman ibig sabihin na siya na ang iboboto ko at hindi ko naman itaas ang kamay noong kandidato,” he ended.
