Have you always wanted to try the best French wines and experience the fun German Oktoberfest?

Well, look no further. Sofitel offers those fun international experiences right here in Manila!

With the Sofitel Wine Days 2015, you can enjoy various wine events all month. As half-French myself, here are the events I recommend:

The Laubade Armagnac Wine Dinner (on Thursday October 15, 2015 from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. at Spiral). This event features a delicious 5-course meal expertly paired with a wine selection from Chateau de Laubade, one of France’s renowned winemakers.

Wine tasting sessions at Le Bar; every Friday and Saturday of this month, from 5 p.m. to 12 midnight; enjoy wine selections from the finest wine regions in France.  Wines from Alsace (October 9 & 10), from Bordeaux (October 16 & 17), from Burgundy (October 23 & 24), and from Loire Valley (October 30 & 31).

The usual Spiral Sunday brunch also comes with an optional wine tasting this month! Take advantage of the wide array of French wines and to pair them with the delicious French cheese you will be tasting.

Don’t know much about French wines and cheeses? You can attend the Private Wine and Cheese class every Sunday of the month from 4:30 p.m. to 5:30 p m  in the “Cheese Room” (L’Epicerie of Spiral).

There are many more events celebrating wine all month at the Sofitel Philippine Plaza, but one that I really recommend is the Al Fresco. A tour of the historic and famous walled city of Intramuros.  Learn about its rich history and enjoy a wine picnic (which includes rose wine, fresh salads and gourmet sandwiches) in the beautiful Intramuros Park.

Now let’s cross the French border and head to Germany. In this time of the year when we celebrate not Christmas, yet, but Beer! Oktoberfest is the world’s largest beer festival. Having been held since 1810 in Germany, it is now attended by over 6 million people.

And once again, thanks to Sofitel. You don’t have to take a plane to enjoy these festivities.  Indeed, all you need to do is go straight to the Harbor Garden Tent of Sofitel on the 16th and/or 17th of this month to take part in the opposite of sober activities!
In the past years, this event  has been attended by over 4,000 Filipinos and Germans alike and over 30,000 liters of beer were consumed.

So come, and  immerse yourself in German culture and enjoy a delicious traditional Bavarian feast, and be entertained by Munich’s  Bavarian Sound Express, and of course, free-flowing beer!

Get to know these two European countries the fun way this month of October; through their expertise in wine & beer!
