“I realize kasi na never ko pa s’ya napanood, ever since I was a kid. Andami kasi nagsasabi sa akin na ang galing ng dad ko. Mas lalo ako naging curious.”

At the press conference held a few days ago for the movie Haunted Mansion, Regal Films entry for this year’s Metro Manila Film Festival this December, the lead star, showbiz neophyte Janella Salvador happily talked about her role in her first horror movie and the wonderful experiences she had with her co-stars.

The young actress described her role as very much different and challenging, as compared to her past roles, especially on television.  “Ang role ko dito as Ella ay ibang-iba kay Kikay na maarte at vibrant. Dito sa movie medyo tahimik at simple lang.  Tapos yung role ko dito, ako yung girl na nakakakita ng multo,”  she explained. Janela added that she enjoyed working with director Jun Lana who was very patient on doing her scenes. “Sobrang galing n’ya. Talagang mabusisi s’ya sa mga eksena kaya ang galing ng mga shots.”

Part of the cast in the movie include Iza Calzado and Janice De Belen, one of the most popular actresses who is known for doing horror films, of which the most notable one is Tiyanak, where the popular expression ‘ang anak ni Janice” was coined.

Janella claimed that she always seek the advice of Janice, especially in terms of acting and right expression. “Nakasama ko naman na si Tita Janice sa Oh My ! (her first solo project in kapamilya network after the hit serye Be Careful With My Heart, as Nikki, the daughter of Sir Chef played by Richard Yap). “I look up to her kasi sobrang galing n’ya. When we were doing this movie, sabi ko sa kanya kung paano matakot kahit hindi ka natatakot. Ang sabi lang n’ya sa akin, ‘hay nako, dapat maging authentic ang acting mo kasi kung hindi mag mumukha kang ewan.’’’ Janela recalled.

Meanwhile, Janella shared another blessings in her life. She said she had a chance to meet again her father, after long time, since he got separated from her mom, Janine Desiderio. Her dad is Juan Miguel Salvador, vocalist of iconic Rage Band.

“Yes that was last August,” she claimed. “It was unexpected actually. Di ko naman talaga ginusto. It was unplanned, pero it happened. Kaya ayun, I went to his gig and napa-wow talaga ako.”

Janella said that her father was surprised when he saw her watching the show. She was asked if her relationship with her dad is fine. “Actually okay naman kami, it’s just that hindi lang talaga kami nagkikita,” she replied.

She was also asked the reaction of her mom regarding her unplanned meeting with her dad. “She was there with me the whole time,” she answered. “Tahimik lang s’ya. Then she left to give me more time to talk with my dad.”

And how’s her relationship with her mom? “Naku strict naman talaga si mommy,” she said, “pero right now she let me do things on my own.”

As of now, aside from her movie, Janella is looking forward for another kapamilya teleserye before 2015 ends.
