“On same sex-marrriage? Wow! It is really up to the person, you know. The world is evolving. It is now 2016. Everything is evolving. We don’t look like how we look liked 50 years ago. It is all about love and respect. It is all about love and equality.”
Kapamilya heartthrob Matteo Guidicelli was in high spirits when he attended the premiere of his action film Tupang Ligaw held on Tuesday, February 16, at the Cinema 3 of the Fisher Mall in Quezon City.
“This is something different for me,” said the former car racing champion. “We can say that is a breath of fresh air for me. And I really had lots of fun doing this. I spent training for six months in hand fighting as well as handling gun and I hope the audience will appreciate our movie. I would also like to express my thanks to Ms. Baby Go and BG Productions International for giving me this opportunity,” he said.
Is he not wary how fans would accept his venture into the action genre? “I am nervous yes, but I hope they will like it. I had a good time doing this film. Everything worked well together,” replied Matteo.
The young actor is looking forward to doing more action films in the future. For now, Matteo is busy taping for his new ABS-CBN soap Dolce Amore which premiered Monday on primetime. He is also set to start work on his second album for Star Records and will be doing the next season of Single Single for Cinema One.
Many people like the photo of Matteo and his girlfriend Sarah Geronimo when they went out on a date on Valentine’s Day. But he said he has yet to see the photo that found its way on the social media. Many of their fans expressed happiness that the two of them were together on February 14.
“Thank you. That is the whole purpose of love, to be happy,” he smiled. “There should be no touch of sadness. Puro good vibes lang and making people happy. You are happy, we are happy, everybody is happy.’
Matteo even brought along his brother. “Talagang kasama sa plano na kasama ang brother ko. Hangout-hangout lang iyon. Family bonding iyon.”
You seem to be busier than Sarah these days? “Hindi naman. Busy rin naman si Sarah. She has her own projects din naman. I am just happy with the blessings. We just started with Dolce Amore. Mataas ang ratings namin. Maraming salamat po. Liz-Quen din kasi ang kasama ko sa series.”
If his and Sarah schedules would permit, he would love to take her on a movie date and watch Tupang Ligaw.
Matteo is likewise elated to be given the chance to work with Liza Soberano and Enrique Gil. ”The Liz-Quen fans were very nice. I thought I would be bashed when I posted my photo with Liza but it was her fans who welcomed me. I’d like to thank them for that. It is a blessing to working with them. Enrique is a friend. He is close to my heart. He is a Cebuano also. Liza and I spent a lot of time together in Rome. Ayos naman lahat. Maganda ang Dolce Amore. Ang galing ni Direk Cathy,“ he explained.
What can you say about Manny Pacquaio’s statement regarding same-sex marriage?
“I didn’t have the chance to watch it. I didn’t get to watch it. Let me watch it first before I will give my comment. But love is universal. Love is the most important thing in life. That is what connects us all together,” he answered.
