Mixed Martial Arts to Invade Puerto Galera this Summer!
It’s always fun in Puerto Galera every summer. But this time, it’s going to a sporty get-away as the newest sport in the country unleashes its noble cause in molding future Filipino mixed martial arts champs.
A sport that has grown tremendously worldwide over the years, Mixed Martial Arts (MMA), is also fast gaining a great awareness among Filipinos. Recently, a new fight organization called The Goat Locker Boxing Gym, headed by Ferdie Munsayac (CEO), the Underground Battle MMA (UGMMA Corp.). It was created mainly to educate the public on the growing interest in the fight industry, as well as establishing a new platform that will serve as an avenue for fighters to compete in amateur and professional-level fight leagues.
A retired US Navy chief, Ferdie says his primary goal is “to help the young, poverty-stricken but skilled boxers/Muay Thai/Jiu Jitsu and MMA fighters develop their craft so that they would be able to provide a brighter future anchored on the advocacy – “Beating Up Poverty” which in itself is a commendable goal. His deep sense of his Filipino heritage which he has reflected alongside with his fundamental mission, is not just to grow the UGB MMA brand but to reinforce his commitment to the Filipino fighters most of whom (like Pacquiao in boxing), come from the fringes of poverty-stricken family backgrounds. Going back, UGBMMA Corp. also offers line up of events that has further established the company as a substantial mover in the fighting industry. In less than two years, UGB MMA Corp. has gained a significant following through different age range of male and female fighters who all share the same passion for the sport.
This summer, in the new, better and beautiful island of Puerto Galera Oriental Mindoro, beach life will never be the same again as UGBMMA Corp. brings “UGB20: Rambulan sa Galera Beach Battle II,” on April 28 to 29, 2017. This is the first-ever MMA event to hit the island featuring top foreign male and female fighters in the weaponized caged fights under the Juego Todo brand.
The event is made possible through the help of the Municipality of Puerto Galera headed by Mayor Rockey Ilagan.
To all interested MMA enthusiasts, we hope see you there!
