Sheryl Cruz Reiterates Her Stand Remains The Same on Sen. Grace Poe

“Sometimes there are some decisions or some things you do not agree upon, but it doesn’t mean that you do not care for each other, yun lang ang akin.”
Present at the red carpet during the 29th PMPC Star Awards for Television, Sheryl Cruz was all smiles when she accepted her award for winning the Best Supporting Actress for her role in Strawberry Lane, aired in Kapuso network.
In this glitter.ph interview, the actress Sheryl Cruz was feeling so great and elated for the honor. “Nagagalak ako na napasama ako as best supporting actress alam ko na magagaling ang katungali ko but just the same, I would like to celebrate the year with PMPC at pinapangaralan nila ang mga artistang magagaling,” she said.
“Actually, I never imagined na makakabalik ulit ako dito, but I’m really, really greatful for PMPC for recognizing the artists kung anong efforts at paghihirap ang aming ibinibigay sa aming mga trabaho. I’m so thankful for this award.”
Known as the cousin of the 2016 presidential aspirant, Senator Grace Poe (Sheryl’s mom, Rosemarie Sonora, is the sister of Susan Roces, the adopted mother of the senator), who was recently disqualified by Comelec to run for the post due to her residency issue. She’s now facing three more disqualification cases, including her citizenship.
In connection to this, Sheryl was asked how she felt of the Comelec’s decision. According to the actress, she was actually prepared that she would be asked regarding the matter. “Ito lang ang masasabi ko, gagawin ko nalang sa kanta… MANANATILI KANG MAHAL SA AKING DIBDIB TULAD NG ISANG KAY GANDANG AWITIN KO…that’s all i can say. How could I actually give a message?” she asked.
Sheryl was also asked if she had talked to her cousin, Sen. Grace Poe ? “No we have not spoken,” she cordially replied. And did she feel when she learned of the disqualification?
“As a family member, I’m saddened by what is happening. But we choose our paths, and ako kung ano yung sinabi ko before, was just because I cared. And until now I still care for the well being of the entire family. We may have different views but at the end of the day family will always be a family.”
Since Christmas is just a few weeks away, Sheryl was asked how she will celebrate the holiday season. “Malungkot kasi this is the first Christmas kung saan na hindi kami magkakasama-sama dahil kasi napapaligiran ang pinsan ko (Grace Poe) ng mga taong hindi dapat pinakikinggan. So yung akin, I was not the one to cause any kind off destruction kung di ako lumayo sa family ko. It’s the people around na may mga pansariling interest at na inilalagay ang pinsan ko sa pahamak,” she stressed.
As a concerned member of the family, as much as possible Sheryl doesn’t want to talk about her strained relationship with her cousin. “Kung pwede lang na magtago ako at umiwas ako gagawin ko. Hindi naman ako mahilig magpapansin, hindi naman ako ganun klaseng tao. Ngayon na ako’y tinatanong ninyo ,that’s why I’m giving my answer. But since this is an event to celebrate (PMPC), and this is the event to be proud of, there’s a business in showbusiness and I wouldn’t change my profession. I love it and I always thank the Lord for giving me this profession to be proud of,” concluded the award-winning actress.
