Last Saturday, time was on a virtual stand still as Metro and Mega Manila denizens were all glued to the wedding that will end the fairy tale of Alden Richards and Maine Mendoza (Yaya Dub).

Talks are spreading that sari-sari stores were closed during the wedding ceremony of Franke Arenoli (Jose Manalo) and Yaya Dub. Parlors, spas and talipapas supposedly stopped operations during the appointed wedding time. And visiting international singing superstar Ariana Grande wondered why traffic in Manila was not that intense during her arrival.

We all know what happened. the wedding did not materialize as the pastor presiding  the ceremony was allegedly a fake one.

And how did the members of the AlDub nation reacted to this event?

Their  #AlDubAgainstALLODDS! posted 2.5M tweets and as expected, it became the #1 Trending Topic on Twitter nationwide and worldwide.

The mighty AlDub fanatics already made three historical tweets, all of which reached the 1 million mark. This was the first time that their collective efforts reached the 2 million-mark.

This 2 million mark Tweet was a first for any noon time program.  This impressive show of force is definitely a strong indicator on how popular and so much love and support is being given to the “kalyeserye” protagonists.

Because of this reality, the immense impact of the reel love team of Richards and Mendoza are now being compared with the top “Kapamilya” love teams, specifically with the trio con brio – Daniel Padilla and Kathryn Bernardo (KatNiel), James Reid and Nadine Lustre (JaDine) and Liza Soberano and Enrique Gil (LizQuiel).

These three pairings are now regular household staples and yet, no fans of them, have mastered enough will and power, to pull their resources together so that they will be able to reach the 2 million Tweet-feat, something which the AlDub fans realized.

To illustrate a point, the KathNiel nightly’s Pangako Sa ‘Yo’s highest Tweet record was 1.6 million, during its June 5 episode and the hashtag was #PSYYnaAngelo.

Even men in religious clothing, our priests are hooked with the AlDuB pairing. The Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines (CBCP), through its Twitter account, @cbcpnews, one of the online platforms of CBCP, praised the “kalyeserye.”

The biggest reward of the AlDub phenomenon of course, was the digits they posted last Saturday. According to an on-line portal who gathered the information from AGB Nielsen, Eat Bulaga garnered a 40.8% audience share verus It’s Showtime 5.3%.

Wow! That’s alarming, if this report from the on line portal is indeed for real. s

Let us see how Eat Bulaga will sustain the popularity of AlDub. Reports have it that Alden and Maine are now part of the MMFF entry of Vic Sotto and AiAI delas Alas billed as Romcom-In Mo Ako.

Right now, this is a validation that we love them, and there is more to love because of Alden Richards and Maine Mendoza.
