As part of  the annual Mandaluyong Day celebration,  I believe that this year’s Miss Mandaluyong is the most fabulous ever. Chaired by Mayor Menchie Abalos, since she was still a first lady of the city, this yearly event is always considered as one of the grandest local pageants.

Hi everyone, I’m back. It’s been a while since I last wrote an article here due to my very hectic schedule these past few months. Now, I am writing about the recent Miss Mandaluyong 2017 where I made beautiful gowns for some candidates together with two other Mandaluyong base designers, Mikee Andrei and Roulette Esmilla. For their opening number, the candidates wore the creation of Tina Daniac, also a Mandaluyong base designer, while the reigning queens wore creations of Dave Ocampo, also from Mandaluyong.

Miss Mandaluyong is staged usually before Mandaluyong Day, as part of the fiesta celebration. Participated by more than 30 candidates representing the barangays of this city, I could say many beautiful candidates were chosen this year.

The judges were all very credible, comprising people from the fashion, pageant, modeling and show business. Some of the judges were reigning Miss International 2016 Kylie Versoza, Miss Globe 2015 Anne Collis, famous beauty queen maker from Aces and Queens Jonas Gaffud, designers Joji Lloren and Cherry Veric, actor Dominic Roque and some top models from the fashion and commercial world.

The evening gown competition was one of the most exciting segment of the pageant as the lovely candidates came out so elegant and glamorous on stage. I believed this portion of the competition gave the judges a hard time in scoring the candidates. From the evening gown competition, the Top 10 were chosen. The score was based from the combined scores of the pre-pageant, the swimsuit competition and the long gown competition.

The competition was so tough that so many pretty and deserving girls were not able to make it to the Top 10. The top 10 were asked difficult questions yet most of them were able to answer with wit and confidence. Their answers were basically the basis in choosing the Top 5.

With the Top 5, a common question was asked to all the candidates. From their answers, the Top 5, who were already winners were ranked. A black beauty, Daniella Ruiz Lamptey from barangay BuayangBato emerged as a winner. She looked so elegant that night wearing my white gown that fitted her so well. Her elegant look and her superb answer in the final question made her the winner of Miss Mandaluyong 2017.

Congratulations to all the winners.
