All roads will lead to all SM Cinemas starting tomorrow to witness the commercial screening of the most anticipated movie of the year, Star Wars: The Force Awakens. It had a world premiere last December 14 in Los Angeles where all the cast and crew attended. Aside from the original cast (Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher and Mark Hamill), the two new main cast, John Boyega (as Finn) and Daisy Ridley (as Rey), gave new twist and conflict to this seventh installment.
SM is true to its partnership with Walt Disney Pictures. This time, two portions in SM Mall of Asia is dedicated for a month long exhibit of some memorable life size characters and planes use in the latest franchise movie Star Wars: The Force Awakens.
At the main hall of Atrium, part of MOA, lies the biggest replica of X-Wing, even though locally manufactured, this gigantic Sci-Fi fighter plane is such a delight not just for Star Wars fans, but for all ages wherein you can ride at the cockpit part and have your photos taken. In the said area toy figurines of the different characters of Star Wars are also in display, plus the interactive Battlefront, and the Star Wars video games. Souvenirs and memorabilia are also available.
At the Timezone, you can choose your destiny wall showcase where the light saber swords are situated, that you can play and of course, have selfie with it. But the real life size Storm Trooper is the star in this exhibit. It is real and brought in from abroad for this particular event.
An app for Star Wars is also in this section, that when you put your phone to its screen something forceful happen created by BB-8 droid.
“All the things that you see here have been approved by Disney, concepts came from them as well, so I can assure you that this is all legit.” Ria Canteras, AVP for Corporate Marketing of SM Lifestyle Entertainment, Inc. explained.
Aside from Mall Of Asia, another Star Wars exhbit display is also open to public at SM North Edsa, in Quezon City. The exhibit opened last December 7 and will last until January 3, 2016.
The movie Star Wars: The Force Awakens opens December 17, and it will take a break on Christmas day to give way for Metro Manila Film Festival, and will resume on January 8, 2016. But for IMAX and other large format screen, the showing is not interrupted.
Directed, co-produced and co-written by J.J. Abrams, the story is set approximately 30 years after events of Return of the Jedi (1983). The film is produced by Lucas film president Kathleen Kennedy, Abrams, and his long-time collaborator Bryan Burk. Today it is now acquired and be distributed by The Walt Disney company. The film was shot initially in Abu Dhabi and Iceland, with principal photograph took place in Ireland. Some of the new cast members include Adam Driver, Oscar Isaac,m Lupita Nyong’o, Andy Serkis, Domhnall Gleeson Anthony Daniels, Peter Mayhew and Max von Sydow. Because of the positive reviews, two sequels – Episode VIII and Episode IX – are now scheduled for release in 2017 and 2019, respectively.
