“Na-excite ako, it’s hard to explain ‘yung naramdaman ko eh, but actually it’s more on thanking the Lord kasi noong naibalita sa akin ito ay Pasko ‘yun, pamasko sa akin ito ni Lord last year.
My Super D star Dominic Ochoa started flying high on the boob tube last Monday (April 18) via ABS-CBN, and will be there fighting bad elements, as the country’s own version of Superman. This is a rare opportunity in his career and he didn’t even expect it would happen.
He was really overwhelmed when the news came to him last Christmas and he considered it a great gift from God.
To be a superhero, you must have a good body-built to be believable in defeating your nemesis. But in the case of My Super D, he doesn’t have to spend many hours in the gym to condition and toning his body because as a Super Daddy, he will just be an ordinary father to his son with little fats on the side and sometimes clumsy in his ways. And this gave problem to our new super hero due to his skimpy costume, and whether he likes it or not, his fats on his stomach will surely show off.
Basically, I lost around 40 lbs. before we started taping. Tapos, may martial arts pa ako, tinuruan ako ng instructor namin,” he happily quipped.
When we saw him on the first screening of My Super D at Dolphy Theater, immediately we noticed his resemblance with Enrique Gil and surely he will pass as the elder brother of the matinee idol. Losing some pounds really helped him to look better and younger.
Dominic started in Gimik a few years back, and he was very pleased that his friend from way back, Marvin Agustin is in the cast of My Super D playing a ‘kontrabida.’
“Masaya ako dahil kasama si Marvin playing a not so effortless role that of a villain. He is very supportive as a friend, and I am very thankful na tinanggap nito ang nasabing role, Masaya ako kasi para itong reunion. Ang last na show na magkasama kami ay What A Man. Matagal na yun, 2004 pa,” he recalled.
Among his batch, who are still active in showbiz today include Judy Ann Santos, Claudine Barretto, Mylene Dizon and Jolina Magdangal. And the late Rico Yan was his close friend. “Close kami ni Rico at naka-move on na ako after three years na namaalam na ‘yung kaibigan natin. I still remember every birthday niya, March 14, every death anniversary niya, March 29, the day na nag-away sila (Claudine Barretto) March 4, alam ko lahat ‘yan kasi I still consider him as my best friend in this business even Marvin,” he remembered.
He admitted that showbiz-dom grieved for the lost of Rico, and more on Claudine, especially they were quarreling until the actor died. I believed na he died out of depression. Well, let’s all move on, nananahimik na siya doon, tatlong taon ko siyang ininda dahil nawalan ako ng kaibigan. Gan’un naman ‘yan eh. Basta naka-move-on na ako at kapag naka-move-on ka na, kasi masaya ka na para sa kanya,” he shared.
We have only less than month before the National Elections, and as of now he has already chosen his candidate for presidency and this is Davao Mayor Rody Duterte.
“Doon sa sinabi niyang in three months or six ay mawawalis nito ang kriminalidd sa bansa, pero I know, no one can promise that but he will do something about it for sure. I’ve seen his place, I visited Davao. Well lit ‘yung lugar. I don’t know but we are entilted to our own opinion, our own decision and this is my decision and I’m gonna do everything for free para sa kanya.”
